Appointed as Project Managers, Costs Consultants and CDM Co-ordinators to lead the demolition of the fire damaged accommodation block and to also construct a new build temporary accommodation block for 60 students. The original accommodation block was destroyed by fire on 17th July, 2012.
Working closely with the school a new temporary accommodation block was opened for occupation on Friday 31st August exactly seven weeks after the fire and more importantly ready for the new school year.
Appointed as Project Managers and Cost Consultants for the reinstatement following flood damage to Joseph Swan Academy in Newcastle.
Following a Flood on 1st July 2012 the majority of the Ground Floor of Joseph Swan Academy experienced a heavy flood. Fitzsimons were brought in to manage the reinstatement work to ensure the School would be re opened in September. Temporary Accommodation was investigated, however Fitzsimons role was to ensure this was not necessary.
Added to this pressure a further flood of the same magnitude occurred again on the 5th August, leaving only 4 weeks to complete including re installing all classroom furniture and content!
The deadline was still achieved and the pupils returned to school on time.
Reinstatement of school gym hall following a roof collapse due to heavy lying snow. Appointed as Project Managers, Cost Consultants and CDM co -coordinators to ensure a fast track delivery for the insured on behalf of Ecclesiastical Insurance.
With restrictive access and ensuring the school remained opened with safe access for children and staff, Fitzsimons planned the successful temporary safe routes together with crane works and successfully delivered the project on time and within budget to ensure minimal disruption to the school.
