Our clients & Testimonials
Alan and his team comprise of all of the things any real estate developer and investor looks for in a firm to partner with - a sense of urgency, creativity and flexibility, high quality input and most importantly, results.
I cannot speak more highly of a firm that we've worked with in our 40 years of business.
Fitzsimons were fantastic in the way they managed to solve problems even though it may not be directly related to their scope but they are focused on the overall project goals.

Working with Fitzsimons is a breath of fresh air. Their attention to detail and drive to leave no stone unturned is invaluable. In the hotel sector where room multiples mean small differences add up to meaningful sums, we have found their services genuinely add value to our projects, which is a rare commodity.

Fitzsimons and Alan Garrick are a breath of fresh air in a business that’s not only highly competitive, but one where the wrong pick can be costly in time and money, resulting in an end product which misses the mark. We have used Fitzsimons for several years now and their quality, professionalism and hungry desire to ensure every project is executed perfectly is why we keep going back.
One reference I saw noted creativity, flexibility, urgency and results were exemplary. Truly spot on remarks! The team are all superb, but I have to single out Alan. Humble and without the need for praise or to self-praise; Alan leads from the front and doesn’t sugarcoat, bluff, fill voids with nonsense or wasted breath. He understands every aspect of hospitality development and leaves no stone unturned.
Besides the obvious expected delivery from a QS of accurate budgeting, analysis and contract negotiations, his intuitive and accurate analysis of nuanced and difficult situations makes him a standout. Alan never once claims a situation he is asked to opine on is ‘not in his contract or ‘not his job’. He simply rolls up his sleeves, dives in and rarely fails to deliver the right option for solutions and success. Problem solving is certainly one of his fortes.
Although value engineering in today’s development environment is a forgone conclusion and it’s an expectation, Fitzsimons work intentionally, thoughtfully, methodically and sensibly to ensure that savings don’t come from important aspects of the project that directly affect guest experience and therefore a resultant drop in revenues.
Alan has helped us through multiple situations where we have needed his clarity of thought, leadership, energy and fabulous communications skills. If you need Alan, he always seems to be right there. No nonsense. Just brutally honest, open and direct answers.
I don’t write many glowing references these days given so much mediocrity, but Alan and Fitzsimons simply deliver and take charge in a way you rarely see, all while being supremely accurate and an asset to any project. If you want a crack at being on time, on budget and avoid long meetings of endless and wasteful rhetoric – this is a team for you.

The Fitzsimons team have been instrumental to our efficient and cost-effective delivery of our projects in the UK. Their client focused and disciplined approach makes them an irreplaceable part of our team. In addition, they are a delight to work with on a daily basis. I would not entertain taking on a project in the UK without Fitzsimons on our team.

Kennedy Wilson hired Fitzsimons as Project & Cost Managers and Principal Designers for a series of recent [capital expenditure/improvement] projects at the Fairmont St Andrews hotel. We found Fitzsimons to be consistently diligent, organized, accurate, and cost-conscious on each project.
As an owner who were investing significant capital into our property, it was reassuring that our interests were well looked after. This was the case whether it was a larger project or smaller project - each was treated equally. Although it was our money at stake, Fitzsimons probably did a better job fighting in our corner than we ever could have.
Despite several challenges and curveballs over a two-year period, the projects were finished [largely] within forecasted timelines and, most importantly, below budget. Because the hotel was kept open for business during these multi-phased refurb works it added an additional layer of complexity. Fortunately, the programme was expertly planned and allowed the hotel’s five-star service offering to remain uncompromised.
Finally, and not to be overlooked, was Fitzsimons’s capability to manage the entire project team, including the hotel management & brand representatives, architects, designers, landscape architects, plus a demanding owner (us). What must have quietly been a tall task to keep such a varied group focused was handled quite smoothly.
In fact, a lot of this is probably down to the outstanding levels of communication, which involved information, education, and debate as necessary.
The resultant success of the projects has garnered numerous positive comments – from within Kennedy Wilson as well as from the hotel and its patrons.

Alan is unusually clear thinking and decisive.
His clarity of thought and a “don’t mess about” attitude are extraordinary, exactly what one wants in a project manager.
We hired Alan against competition from a much larger firm and all of its substantial resources.
We would go out of our way to work with him again.
Fitzsimons strengths begin as follows: PM skills, ability to follow the brief, assimilate and take forward our requirements, liaise with ourselves and other consultants and drive the projects forward as per agreed programme. QS: Sensible provisional budgeting, pro-active negotiation, cost management and controls.

Fitzsimons have successfully delivered one, if not the smoothest development programmes we have ever completed. The project consisted of a previous school, partially listed, riddled with dry rot that they converted into 17 fantastic apartments.
The site was on a very tight site, with a steep slope on one side and on a busy road on the other, which made logistics and programming very difficult.
We have not known Fitzsimons for long, but we have already started our next scheme with them and will continue to do so in the future.

Having worked with Fitzsimons now over a number of years on various projects in their capacity as Project and Cost Managers, I have the utmost confidence in their capabilities and ability to approach the project as the Clients Representative.
Fitzsimons explore the costs and sequencing associated with a project in great detail and generate real momentum and direction when value engineering is required, ensuring the balance between cost and added value.
For me having senior personnel on the project from start to finish is key to a successful delivery, ensuring diligent controlling of the project team and liaising with statutory bodies, brands and funds alike.

I was introduced to Fitzsimons (and Alan Garrick) in 2015 when looking to deliver a new museum project in London. Alan helped tremendously with the project (which he eventually helped us to realise in New York City). I was immediately impressed with the work ethic and ownership of all issues - both as the project was delivered, and afterwards. Alan is an absolute pleasure to work with and has that rare ability to make teams feel good, even as he holds them to higher standards or lower costs. As a result, I have continued to work with them on a range of other projects due to the strength of the relationship.

We have worked with Fitzsimons on a number of insurance claims where they have acted as the project managers and cost controllers.
They performed in a very professional manner and delivered the reinstatement work to the satisfaction of both insurers and the insured. We have also worked with Fitzsimons on specialist projects which required careful consideration to specification control and onward impact to programme and business interruption costs.
We are very happy to endorse Fitzsimons and would be delighted to work with them again.

I never ceased to be amazed at the speed at which Greig of Fitzsimons dealt with matters and responded accordingly, even over the weekends. Fitzsimons are always helpful and did whatever they can to ensure we received as much help as possible.
Fitzsimons were fantastic in the way they managed to solve problems even though it may not be directly related to their scope but they are focused on the overall project goals.

We first worked with Fitzsimons during the floods in 2007. Since then Fitzsimons has been involved in a number of projects for us mainly where there is a significant element of business interruption at risk. We have been impressed with their professionalism and attention to detail as have our customers.
As a result of their involvement and their customer focus our customers have been delighted with the way that their claim has been dealt with often back in their properties earlier than expected or not even had to move out at all. We are certainly looking forward to a growing relationship with you.

Having worked with Fitzsimons in Project Management and QS roles both on commercial and residential schemes, I would highly recommend them for any capital development projects. I have found them to be equally proactive as Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors on projects from £100k selective refurbishments up to £50m new-build development.

Successful construction projects require careful planning, effective management, and strong communication among all stakeholders involved in the project.
Having worked with Fitzsimons for many years, we have found them to be incredibly reliable and diligent and knowledgeable in achieving these aims. They want to do the best job possible and not let us down. Invariably they achieve the goal.
